Our client is an American regional healthcare system based in the Pacific Northwest with two general hospitals and several smaller clinics and urgent care facilities.

Challenge

The organization needed to migrate its on-premise Microsoft SharePoint 2013 environment to SharePoint Online due to significant performance and scalability issues and impending lack of support with the sunset of SharePoint 2013 in April 2023. They wanted to migrate to Microsoft 365 to unlock mobile accessibility and stronger security and improve business performance through cloud automation.

Solution

Leveraging CTG’s Microsoft 365 Consulting Services, our experts performed a thorough review of our client’s SharePoint 2013 environment and recommended a migration approach that aligns with best practices and includes a well-defined hub site model architecture. For the SharePoint workflow and InfoPath conversions, Power Apps and Power Platform customizations were developed. To keep the project on track, Agile methodologies were implemented. Work was broken up into two-week sprints via Azure DevOps and visualized using the feature timeline add-on, and story points were used to measure estimated duration and effort.

As a result of our migration efforts, the client completed a critical piece of their overall cloud strategy. Increased security via Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) allows them to have peace of mind that their SharePoint content is secure. Retirement of their on-premise SharePoint 2013 environment allows them to unlock cost savings related to infrastructure, extended Microsoft support, and continuous innovation.
